About Mayor Pro Tem Lauren Kleiman
Lauren was elected to the City Council in 2022 and Mayor Pro Tem in 2025, with a commitment to Public Safety and the goal of preserving the quality of life in Newport Beach.
She is the Vice Chair of the Newport Beach Aviation Committee, the City’s delegate on the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) and the District 15 representative for the Orange County Council of Governments (OCCOG). She has a long history of service to the community, beginning as a member of the Aviation Committee before being appointed to the City’s Planning Commission, where she served for six years.
As a Founding Board Member of the Newport Beach Foundation, Lauren started a Parent Education Series to help families navigate through the difficult issues they are faced with today, and furthered the organization’s mission to ignite the next generation of leadership in the City, through their high school scholarship and Distinguished Citizen programs.
Lauren received her Juris Doctor degree and Certificate in Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine School of Law. She is an attorney and businesswoman who is passionate about giving her time to better the community.
Lauren and her husband, Marc, feel very fortunate to be raising their son in Corona del Mar.
